How to use the app
The app functions as a board view. To use it, begin by creating a new board.
The app assumes you start with a clean slate. Clear the board of the items monday.com automatically creates (i.e. demo items/groups) and/or the items that you already have.
Not doing this results in the pre-existing items not being synced to Google if you enable two-way sync.
Add the app to the board by creating a new board view and selecting Apps -> Google Contacts Sync.
Depending on how you install the app, you may still have to grant the app permission to connect to your monday.com account. Otherwise this step will already be completed.
Note: only the user that authorized the app for the board will be able to access its configuration.
Grant the app access to your Google contacts. Once you have entered the Google account you would like to use, please do not switch accounts during the authorization process.
Note: make sure to allow the app access to your contacts.
Let the app create the required columns. For an optimal experience, do not remove any of these columns. If you do not need some of them, feel free to hide them. You can also change the column order.
Optionally you can enable two-way sync so that changes on monday.com are also sent back to Google Contacts.
Frequenty asked questions
You can always retrigger the synchronization for a specific
contact by making a minor change.
If the issue persists, the most likely cause is a field that has
an incorrect format. Unfortunately, monday.com follows an all or
nothing approach in the sense that if one field is invalid, the
entire item is refused. The most likely culprit is the phone
number. Please make sure that Google Contacts shows a phone
number in its "canonical form" for the contact, e.g.
+31612345678. For more information, see
ITU-T E.164.
At this point in time, it is not possible to restore a deleted contact automatically with the app. The reason for this is that we do not store any of your Google contacts data. You can however restore the item manually by going to the bin/trash section in either Google Contacts or monday.com.
If there are multiple values in a property in Google Contacts, only the first value will be synced to monday.com. For example, if one of your contacts has multiple addresses, only the first address (which Google Contacts considers the primary value) will be synced.
